Brief Descriptions of the IGS Components |
|
---|---|
Station-Operating Agencies | Manage the IGS stations according to the IGS Site Guidelines and transmit the data to IGS Data Centers |
Analysis Centers (ACs) | Analyze the IGS station data to form submissions to IGS products such as orbits, clocks, and station positions |
Analysis Center Coordinator (ACC) | Combines the ACs' submissions to form the "classic" IGS products (GPS orbits, clocks) |
Other Product Coordinators | Combine AC submissions to form specialized IGS products, such as timescale, reference frame, or atmospheric products. |
Data Centers (DCs) | Archive and provide open access to IGS data and products |
Associate Analysis Centers (AACs) | Produce specialized or derived products, such as ionospheric or tropospheric products, regional position/velocity products, or global coordinate/velocity covariance information. |
Central Bureau (CB) | Overall coordination and day-to-day management of the IGS, and this information system |
Associate Members (AMs) | Persons at contributing organizations who spend the majority of their time on work that contributes to the IGS. The associate members are the electorate of the IGS. |
Governing Board (GB) | The international body that sets policy and direction for the IGS. Some positions are elected and others are appointed. |
Pilot Projects (PPs) | Aim at developing a new product using data from the IGS network |
Working Groups (WGs) | Work on a particular topic related to the IGS components |
Contributing Organizations | Any agency fulfilling at least one of the roles above |
Infrastructure Committee (IC) | A Standing Committee of the Governing Board |
